Looking to volunteer with Delta Zeta?  Here's your chance!

Priscilla Johnson, the Collegiate Chapter Director (CCD) of the Rho Chapter at the University of Denver, is searching for Delta Zeta alumnae, living in the Denver area, to join Rho's volunteer advisory board for the chapter.  If you are interested in giving back to the Delta Zeta collegians in Denver through a volunteer position then please read below for more specific information regarding becoming an advisor.

Advisory Boards - Why do we need them?
A well-chosen group of alumnae women on an Advisory Board work together as a team for the chapter to assist the CCD with oveseeing specific chapter officers.  Not only do advisors share their expertise in certain areas, but they offer our collegians more opportunities for alumnae interaction, instilling that seed of commitment for a lifetime.  One of the advisors may eventually be the CCD's successor.  It is important to remember that the CCD is the ultimate decision maker with all chapter issues; however, advisors play a very important role in mentoring executive collegiate officers and chairmen.

What do advisors do?
The Advisory Board is most effective when there is a match between the alumnae women and what they like and are most qualified to do.  Currently the Rho Chapter is looking to fill the following openings for advisor positions:
1. New Member Education advisor (Looking to fill this opening first)
2. Academic Advisor
3. Philanthropy Advisor
4. Ritual Advisor
5. Risk Manager Advisor

Advisor Expectations:
- Communicate with your designated officer weekly or bi-weekly as needed, either via in-person meetings, e-mail, or telephone.
- Attend quarterly Advisory Board meetings (3 per academic year).
- Communicate with CCD regularly to update her on current events related to the position you are advising.
- Attend Chapter meetings on a rotating basis (at least two chapter meetings every 10 weeks) during the academic year).
- Advise & mentor your designated officer.
- Work one-on-one with your designated officer to make sure that she upholds all her responsibilities.
- Be knowledgeable of the following:
  • Delta Zeta Code of Regulations
  • Delta Zeta Constitution
  • Delta Zeta Standing Rules and Policies
  • Rho Chapter Bylaws and Standing Rules
  • Delta Zeta Standards of Excellence
  • Your designated officer's manual
Please note that all of the documents listed above, except the Rho Chapter Bylaws and Standing Rules, can be accessed on DZ Metro.  DZ Metro is a member-only communication/interactive/social networking site for the Sorority.  This site not only serves as a social connection site, bu is also a location where members can access resource information helpful with volunteer/officer positions.  it is especially important that each chapter advisor sign up for Metro in order to fully utilize the resources posted.  DZ Metro can be accessed at http://metro.deltazeta.org/signin.aspx.

What is the appointment procedure for a new advisor?
If after reading this advertisement, you feel you are able to commit to the responsibilities of an advisor and you are interested in joining the Rho Chapter Advisory Board, then please e-mail the Rho Chapter CCD at CCD.Priscilla.Johnson@gmail.com. Once the CCD has found an alumnae who is interested and willing to serve as an advisor, then the CCD will take the following steps:
1. Schedule an in-person interview with the potential advisor,
2. If the potential advisor is someone the CCD can work with comfortably and sees her to be a good fit with the Rho Chapter women, then the CCD will formally ask her if she is willing to serve, obtain her name, contact information, initiating chapter, and year of initiation,
3. CCD will notify the RCD (Regional Collegiate Director) of the intent to appoint this woman and get her approval,
4. CCD will notify the women she is being appointed to an advisory position,
5. CCD will proceed with adding her to the advisory roster on Chapter Inc. and assist with familiarizing her with the resources on DZ Metro.
